Teeth Whitening FAQs
Many people start out with sparkling, white teeth, but over time the foods we eat and drink can stain our teeth. Coffee, tea, wine, and cigarettes are a common cause of discolouration and staining. Sugary treats and acidic foods will also wear down the protective enamel on our teeth, and this can result in the yellow of the tooth’s core to show through.
Many years ago, we whitened teeth with laser treatment. This treatment was lengthy and expensive, and often resulted in patients experiencing increased sensitivity.
When we began offering custom whitening trays, we noticed that our patients weren’t experiencing sensitivity and the whitening results were long-lasting.
Our procedure is painless and fast.
We will take impressions of your teeth and then provide you with whitening trays to take home. Doing the treatments in the comfort of your own home, where you can control the frequency and the duration of the treatment, is greatly appreciated by our patients.
Typically, an at-home whitening routine would last 1.5 to 2 weeks. Patients use the trays two hours per day, and can do touch-ups at their discretion. It’s simple, effective, and pain-free.
As an added bonus, if you are a regular patient with us, we will provide you with the whitening product at no charge to maintain results with touch-ups every couple of months.
Only a qualified dental professional should perform tooth-whitening procedures. If you are considering whitening your teeth, give our office a call today to schedule your smile consultation and to determine which whitening method will suit your needs. 519-885-4770.
