Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canadian Dental Care Plan in Waterloo, ON

At our dental clinic, we believe everyone deserves a healthy smile. Good oral health is not just about your teeth—it helps protect your whole body. That’s why we support the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a government program that helps make dental care easier and more affordable for people who qualify.

What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government dental program. It helps children, seniors, and eligible adults get basic and important dental care. If you qualify, the CDCP will help cover the cost of your dental visits.

This means you can take care of your teeth without worrying about paying the full cost yourself

Who Can Apply for the CDCP?

Applications are now open for:

  • Children under 18
  • Adults aged 18 to 34
  • Adults aged 55 and over
  • Adults aged 35 to 54 who have a valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate

You may qualify for the CDCP if you meet all the following:

  1. You do not have any dental insurance
This means you are not covered by a private dental plan through work or other programs.
  2. You and your spouse or common-law partner (if you have one) have filed your income tax in Canada.
The government uses your income from last year to decide how much coverage you can get. If your partner does not live in Canada, only your income is used.
  3. Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000
The lower your income, the more of your dental care costs the CDCP will cover.
  4. You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
You must live in Canada and pay taxes here.

How Much Does the CDCP Cover?

The amount the CDCP pays depends on your household income. The lower your income, the more it covers.

CDCP Coverage Table:

Adjusted Household Income What CDCP Pays What You Pay
Less than $70,000 100% of CDCP-approved costs $0 (unless your dentist charges more)
$70,000 – $79,999 60% of CDCP-approved costs 40% plus any extra charges
$80,000 – $89,999 40% of CDCP-approved costs 60% plus any extra charges

Extra Costs You Might Have to Pay:

You may have to pay more money if:

  • Your dentist’s prices are higher than the CDCP-approved rates.
  • You choose a dental service that is not covered by the CDCP.
