The Value of Orthodontics
Orthodontics can make a huge difference in a person’s life. Not only will they help to fix your smile — which will make you look and feel great — but they will also help with the alignment of your bite and jaw.
Unlike the old days, you don’t have to wait until all your adult teeth are in, and you don’t have to suffer through painful appointments with wire tightening and elastics.
Orthodontics for children
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, we recommend that you schedule an appointment with your dentist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, and this makes it easier to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner, and without surgery.
Early orthodontic treatment will allows us to:
- Correct and guide the growth of your child’s jaw to help the permanent teeth come in straight.
- Regulate the width of the upper and lower arches.
- Create more space for crowded teeth.
- Avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions later in life.
- Correct thumb-sucking and help improve minor speech problems.
At Harmony Dental we are proud to offer our patients Invisalign.
These clear and easy to use aligners allow us to help teens and adults with a lot of precision and very little discomfort.
Unlike traditional orthodontics, Invisalign helps to straighten your teeth quickly, and it is very user-friendly. The custom-made inserts are simple to remove for eating, drinking, brushing, playing sports, or any other activity where you don’t want to wear them.
They are easy to wash and keep clean, unlike traditional braces, and they are nearly invisible. In fact, some of our patients have told us that they have worn Invisalign at their workplaces and no one noticed!
We understand that adults and children have different needs, and require different levels of attention and care. At Harmony Dental, we will work with you to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment, and that your needs are met with understanding and respect.
